Time just keeps rolling along. Before I know it, my sweet little bunny will be celebrating her first birthday. Hard to believe! Here are some of our favorites from her 10 month pictures. As always, the rest can be found on Kyveli's Picasa Web Album.

First of all, Merry First Christmas and Happy First New Year!
Now that you are here, your daddy and I were inspired to go out and get our very first Christmas tree since we've been together. We never really meant not to get one in previous years, but it always seemed like a waste since we'd always travel to be with family or go camping in Saline Valley and as a result were never home for Christmas to enjoy it. But it seemed like a crime not to have one this year. I'm so glad we did! It made the house smell wonderful and made me smile every morning when I got up and turned on the lights. It took up most of the living room but it was worth it. Here is a picture taken during our hunt for the perfect tree:
And here is our tree with the lights and paper crane garland up. Shenoa and Dan spent 3 months folding 1000 origami cranes as a wedding gift to us. They were so beautiful that I strung half of them together to use as decoration in our old bedroom in Santa Barbara, but we haven't quite known what to do with them since and it seemed like such a shame to let them languish in a box in the closet. They made a perfect Christmas tree garland! Somehow we managed not to get a picture of the tree with all of the ornaments up, so you'll just have to take my word for it that it was pretty!
Much to our astonishment, you didn't even try to knock it down or pull on any of the ornaments, which is especially surprising now that you are officially CRAWLING! (more on that later.) A couple of days before Christmas, Jordan and Caitlin came over and gave you your first Christmas present. You didn't quite know what to do with it but you definitely had a good time with the wrapping paper. Hopefully you won't resent me one day for having a bit of fun at your expense with the bow:
We had intended to spend a quiet Christmas at home with just us, the kitties, and our pretty Christmas tree, but at the last minute we decided to spend the holiday weekend at Auntie Heather and Grandma Marge's place. You had a great time playing with cousins Shasta and Jevria as always! Here is a video of you playing with one of your presents from Grandma Marge:

We spent New Year's Eve in Livermore with Inyo and Nicole, whose baby girl was due a little over a week from then. Our time there started out nice and mellow, cooking and eating yummy food and playing Settlers of Catan (thanks, Grandma Marge!). I kept marveling at the size of Nicole's belly and the fact that you couldn't even tell she was pregnant from the back, hoping not to weird her out. Luckily she was a good sport about it and was in a bit of disbelief herself about the whole thing! We barely made it to midnight, but managed to watch the ball drop and sip a little bubbly (sparkling cider for Nicole of course) at the appropriate time. We even took a picture to prove it:
The next morning, the first one of the new year/decade, we woke up as normal and went about our day. Daddy rode along to Pleasanton with Inyo to help pick up the baby's crib and dresser, which had arrived at the store, and move them into the house. At one point that morning you touched Nicole's belly to say hi to your new little BFF inside, and right then she felt a little cramp - so weird! Then another little cramp a few minutes later, and again and again. We joked about how funny it would be if she went into labor while we were there. She went to lie down, hoping that the cramps would subside, while the guys installed their carseat, just in case they didn't. Well, they didn't and little Soraya Mina Saleeby was born 2 days later on January 3! While I would love to think that my child has mystical, labor inducing powers, the rare blue moon the previous night was probably more to blame. Either that or the fact that Nicole's due date was 9 days away. Or 7, if you asked her doctor! Whatever the cause, Soraya's birth definitely started the new year out with a bang. Happy birthday, sweet little Soraya Mina!
So as I mentioned before, you're now crawling. And not just crawling, but zooming all over the place! And that's not all - the same day that you started crawling, you FINALLY decided to roll from your back to your tummy. I had suspected that you could for a long time if you had tried, but you just weren't ever in the mood until now. While I'm absolutely thrilled with your new developmental milestones, they do make diaper and outfit changes infinitely more challenging as you now want to do anything besides lying still and cooperating. This video was taken at home a few days after Christmas, while you were opening your last few presents:
In related news, you also got 2 more teeth in the last month, making 4 in total - the two on the bottom and the two on top. You can see them all in this super adorable picture:
Isn't that just the best smile ever? You make this face all the time. I'm not sure if it's even possible to smile bigger than that. You're such a happy little girl! Thank you for brightening our lives, little sweetie. Until next month.
